I really cannot say enough good things about Karissa and Dr. Dan. They are so warm and kind to my dog, and every appointment is always a very personal experience where I know my dog's needs have been considered and met. She has never been put on a table for shots, rather they come down to the floor to make her more comfortable. My dog, who has always hated any and every vet experience, actually seems to enjoy her appointments here - no cowering and shaking with her tail between her legs. We've never had to use Denver Animal Hospital for anything other than routine checkups and shots, but I know that if we ever do need them for a more serious problem, I will feel confident and reassured that my dog is in the best of hands. They are efficient, knowledgeable, and so caring. Hands down the best vet I have ever gone to. -Becca P.
Years after using Dr. Berman, I still have very fond memories of his practice. I got my dog in 2003 at a shelter and the Denver Animal Hospital was one of the vet's offering a free first time visit. Since it was only 2 blocks from my house, I decided why not. For the first two years I never had any major issues - so Dr. Berman seemed like a ok fit for my annual check-ups. When my dog turned 2, she started limping and it was diagnosed that she would have to have acl surgery. She is a large dog and needed the invasive surgery, which was traumatic and expensive. Dr. Berman worked closely with us to help make the right decisions and even offered the idea of going to the vet med school to get the procedure done cheaper. After consideration we decided to have the surgery done at his office. While this was very tough on our doggy, his office did a fantastic job at a more than reasonable price. Since then we moved to New York, and then to California. If your dog has acl surgery on one leg, there is a good chance that they will have to have it on the other....about 3 years ago she started limping on her other leg. We took her to our vet in New York and got a quote for the same surgery at $6,000!! He told us that to his knowledge there wasn't a doctor in the entire state that would do it for under $5,000. We didn't pay anything close to that at the Denver Animal Hospital. When we moved to CA we were told a very similar thing. It makes me appreciate what we had in Denver with Dr. Berman...If you read this, thank you for not ripping us off and thank you for helping us out with our baby! (by the way she still hasn't needed surgery on the other leg and gets around fine - just no major hikes or runs) - Nicole B
Dr Berman & Staff,
On behalf of Matouk and all of us, we want to thank you for all you did! Matouk is feeling better and back (almost) to being himself again. Thanks for saving him and all the kind care you showed him. Our family will have Matouk for along time because of you. -Steve and Jacquii and family F.
If I could add on another couple of stars, I would. I
type this after
just bringing my cat home from surgery this morning. As I mentioned
previously, she has had chronic ear infections, so today while she had
her routine dental cleaning, she also had the tumors from her ear canals
removed. While they were benign, they were causing the ear infections.
Karissa
called me twice during the surgery to keep me up to date. When I came
to pick her up, Dr. Dan came out with a book and sat with me,
explaining what she had, what they did and what I can do for preventive
treatment. He went into his lunch hour to do this.
Again, I can't
say enough great things about DAH.

The day I dread all year long was slowly approaching... having to drag
my pup to the vet for his annual checkup and shots. Being somewhat new
to town, I relied on Yelp (thanks, Yelp!) for a good yet affordable
local place to take my doggy. I read the reviews for Denver Animal
Hospital and immediately made an appointment.
The building is in a
cute, quiet location and the interior is cozy and welcoming. I was a
few minutes early but the receptionist led me to the examining room
right away (score for no wait!). Karissa was very prompt with the
weigh-in and was very nice and friendly. I was the most happy about Dr.
Berman, who was attentive and was great with my dog. He took his time
during the examination, asked questions, and patiently listened to my
concerns.
A great little vet if you are looking for a
professional and caring staff. I'll definitely be back.... next year! -Lauren S.
Staff was so incredible, friendly and helpful --- excellent customer service. Thank you! Same day appointment and no waiting when we arrived. We really had a great experience. Very gentle with Murphy, even with the thermometer (which is not his most favorite)! Thank you for the amazing care -- Murphy has recovered and is back to his usual spunky, puppy self. -Heather B.
I have gone to many vets, and this has been my best experience so far. More than once, Dr. Berman has responded to me outside regular hours to take care of my cat and my dog. He is very patient, helpful and honest, and I trust him completely to care for my pets. I like the friendly neighborhood feel of the small office, and have recommended Denver Animal Hospital to my friends with pets. -Amy M.
After my regular vet made me feel like I was not doing a very good job taking care of my cat's chronic ear infections. I decided it was time to get a second opinion. A friend of mine suggested I schedule an appointment with his cat's vet, Dr. Dan Berman. I came in and was pleased at the warm feeling of this small office. I had a feeling I'd find the staff attentive and I was right. Karissa and Dr. Dan were both great, friendly and informative with me while taking concern with my cat. Dr. Dan really takes the time to get to know his patients, which I haven't seen in a vet since I lived in CA, it was nice and comforting to experience. -Amanda T.
I'm incredibly impressed with the friendly, professional service I receive every time I step in. Today I had my three dogs in for the works, and after inspecting them and scaling a little plaque off of Diesel's teeth, it was determined that only Vegas needs a full dental cleaning, and of course they all got their shots. They could have easily told me that all three needed cleaning, but instead of up-selling, I was told the truth! So many vets offices are about selling you anything they can think of, but not this place. It's an honest shop that only does the procedures necessary, at a reasonable price! -Suzy S.
Dr. Dan has taken care of all of our cats over the past 20 years (Hobart, Figaro, Mandy, Gyzmo, Guinness, Onyx and Gibson). He's a great vet and a caring person. His Vet Tech Karissa is friendly, knowledgeable and a great addition to DAH. It's a small practice which I especially like as you rarely if ever have to wait and there are usually not a lot of other animals in the waiting area. All-in-all we've been extremely satisfied with DAH - I highly recommend Dr. Dan especially if you live in the neighborhood. -Tracie B.
I'm always nervous to take my dog to the vet. It feels a lot like heading to the mechanic: I know zip about cars, so I'm an easy target for getting gouged. Same goes with veterinary medicine, and so I have definitely been gouged by previous vets. BUT THEN, I went to see Dr. Berman and his lovely staff at DAH. Dr. Berman told me how good my black lab looks for being 10, which of course made me feel really good. He also said, contrary to every other vet, that her teeth and gums are in great shape, except for two, which he scraped the junk from right there- piece of cake! thank you for not getting me to pay for the whole anesthesia-required full dental cleaning! I am so impressed. All said and done, I trust Dr. Berman, Best veterinary experience ever for me and my beloved dog. -Lauren C.
I've always heard that the cats that eat nasty little critters require extra shots and since kitty was already due to get his boosters I decided to go ahead and find a vet and take him in as soon as possible. Easier said than done for me. I was really starting to stress on when I'd be able to take my cat to the vet, and this is totally ignoring the fact that I had to find a new vet since I'm relatively new to Denver. Luckily I had a day off, only I didn't know I did until the day before. I called Denver Animal Hospital Friday morning, I wasn't really expecting anything since it was so last minute and I was throughly prepared to be disappointed and frustrated. Karissa answered the phone and quickly told me they did have time to fit me in that day. I took an immediate liking to her when she referred to my cat as "kitty". Silly, I know, but I think cat lovers understand why that can be comforting.
When I showed up for the appointment I found that the office wasn't an enormous corporate factory that pumps patients in and out as the name had lead me to believe. It is in fact, a cute, clean, neighborhood veterinary clinic. Dr. Berman seems to be very caring, and when he picked up on my cat's name, "Razzle" and immediately started calling him by the nick name we use "Razzle Dazzle", it was as though he already knew us and our cat. Dr. Berman made sure to ask if I had any questions. He was very quick but I never felt as though we were being pushed out to make room for the next paying customer.I certainly hope I don't have to spend too much time here as my cat is still young and very healthy, but he will definitely be back for as his annual exams. -Katrina A.
I write this update still trying to cope with the loss of my 14 year old
cat, Chloe. 2 weeks ago I noticed my cat was eating less and less and
getting very thin. I called DAH to see if they could get me in that day,
they could and I headed over later that day. As always, they saw me
promptly, and we discovered Chloe had cancer. Dr. Berman and Karissa
took the time with me to discuss my options. Upon much consideration I
decided to take her home, feed her prescription food and see how it
went.
They called me a few times afterward to check up on
Chloe, as did Dr. Berman. And, for a few days, things were looking up,
then last Friday things took a turn for the worse and I made the
agonizing decision to put my kitty down. Dr. Berman and staff stayed
late so I could be the last appointment of the day and they helped me
through the process (I decided I wanted to hold her while they put her
down).
I cannot say enough wonderful things about Dr Berman and
Karissa. My one regret is that I didn't find them sooner,
they were wonderful to Chloe during the seven months of her being their
patient. I know that I'll return to them when I'm ready to adopt again. -Amanda T.
I called Denver Animal Hospital and they got me in RIGHT AWAY for the
free exam you get when you adopt from DFL. Poor little guy had a temp of
104.5, but other than the sneezing he seemed OK, so I was sent home
with a warning to be concerned if he stopped eating or drinking. I took
Burke home, and of course he wouldn't eat or drink anything for almost
24 hours! So I called again and the got me in within 20 minutes of me
calling to give him fluids and show me how to force-feed him (pretty
awful, but had to be done).
Everyone who works there, from the
receptionist to the technician to the doctor are all so kind and caring
about the health of your animal, I was so grateful and thanked them a
million times. PLUS - they did not charge me a ton of money to see him! I
expected it to be at least $50, and it was significantly less than
that, even though it was basically an emergency visit. Like I said,
these people really do care, and will make sure you have a great
experience. I am sooooo glad to have found my regular vet here in
Denver! -Jacque A.
Deciding to no longer suffer the terrible customer service and high prices of VCA Alameda East (see my review if you're curious) I found Denver Animal Hospital. I was hesitant to see Dr. Berman because my dog warms up more quickly to women than men, but I decided to give him a try anyway. I'm so happy! I love the tiny neighborhood office, I love that they can get me an appointment a day or two from when I call, and I love that my dog's prescriptions are ready a few hours from when I call. The vet tech is knowledgeable and the office staff is super friendly. I am happy that they let me stay in the room during shots and nail-clippings. I hate having my dog taken, shaking and scared, to a back room somewhere and not knowing what's going on. The doctor and his staff are really inclusive and informative. They also don't make you feel bad if you ask for the cheapest medicine option available, and they're quick to offer up the generic instead of pushing the brand names. With a dog rapidly approaching her senior years, I'm sure I'm going to be frequenting the vet more and more often. I'm SO glad I found this place. -Randi F.
I've been taking my dog to DAH for a couple of years now. I have nothing
but good things to say about everyone who works here. Special kudos to
Dr. Berman, who really understands my aging, neurotic-and-I-really-don
't-want-anything-to-do-wi th-men dog. Top quality care at fair prices. -Deb O.
